TDHCA congratulates Gateway Village I LLC, Related Capital, and Capstone Real Estate Services on the September 15, 2004, grand opening of Gateway Village Seniors, an affordable rental community for persons 55 years of age or better. TDHCA joined Sphinx Development Corporation, numerous partner organizations, and elected officials for a grand opening ceremony in Dallas on August 30, 2004, for Murdeaux Villas, Texas' newest affordable rental property. Murdeaux Villas is a 240-unit property funded through TDHCA's Multifamily Mortgage Revenue Bond and Housing Tax Credit programs. More than half of the units feature three and four bedrooms making the development extremely attractive to growing families. Crossroads Housing Development Corporation (CHDC)
On April 16 the Crossroads Housing Development Corporation (CHDC) in Big Spring celebrated the grand opening of their new neighborhood training center. CHDC is offering homeownership training along with foreclosure counseling, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's Money Smart course, home maintenance, and landscaping for equity courses. Paul Pryor, Executive Director of CHDC realizes that most people who are interested in buying a home do not necessarily understand the process. Understanding the home buying process, as well as financing options and the loan approval process is the focus of the training courses that will be offered by CHDC. He and CHDC staff member Stacy Walker are both certified homebuyer education providers; they were certified by TDHCA through the Texas Statewide Homebuyer Education Program. Primrose of Cedar Hill
TDHCA salutes Southwest Housing on the January 27, 2004 grand opening of Primrose of Cedar Hill, a mixed income senior rental community funded in part through TDHCA tax credits. Located in Cedar Hill (Dallas County), Primrose of Cedar Hill offers 67 one-bedroom units and 65 two-bedroom units spread among 33 one-story buildings designed to give the feel of a single family residential community. The community specifically caters to active seniors and offers transportation, organized outings and activities, nutritional education, a swimming pool with wheelchair access, and a host of other amenities. Rosemont at Oak Valley
TDHCA congratulates Southwest Housing and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation on the December 16, 2003, grand opening of Rosemont at Oak Valley, an affordable rental community funded in part through TDHCA tax credits. Located in Austin, Rosemont at Oak Valley offers 120 two-bedroom units and 160 three- and four-bedroom, two-story duplexes for low income families. Units feature nine-foot ceilings, kitchen islands, French doors, and large pantries. Towne Park Fredericksburg
Towne Park Fredericksburg's grand opening was held September 25, 2003, in Fredericksburg, Texas. The complex provides affordable housing for senior citizens and was financed in part by TDHCA tax credits. All units are two bedroom apartments available in three different floor plans. Terrell Senior Terraces
The Life Rebuilders Group celebrated the grand opening of its newest property, Terrell Senior Terraces II, September 15, 2003, in Terrell, TX. The $9,600,000 property was partly financed by TDHCA-issued housing tax credits. Terrell Senior Terraces II consists of 180 units and will be a multifamily senior development for seniors ages 55 and up. Amenities include a 4,700 square foot Senior Community Center, a pool and cabana, and a putting green. Social services will be provided by the Kaufman County Senior Services. Babcock North Phase II
In June 2003, the Alamo Area Mutual Housing Association celebrated the grand opening of Babcock North Phase II in San Antonio. This $6 million project was partly financed by TDHCA-issued housing tax credits. It has 72 two- and three-bedroom units. Seven of the units are fully accessible for people with disabilities. On August 7, 2003, Foundation Communities and the Capitol Area Homeless Alliance (CAHA) began accepting applications for their single room occupancy apartments at Garden Terrace. Located in Austin, Garden Terrace is the city's first permanent supportive housing development for single adults, and will offer 85 efficiency apartments to low income single adults. Located in Seguin, Eden Place is a 60-unit single story property made possible by housing tax credits awarded by TDHCA.
