What can I expect as an employee of TDHCA?

You will be eligible for the state benefits of a retirement plan, 457 and 401(k) deferred compensation plans, group health and life insurance, and other optional coverage, including dental insurance. For eligible employees, TDHCA offers a sick leave pool, FMLA coverage, a tuition reimbursement program, and an employee assistance program. The building is a smoke-free environment. Retirement

Employees become members of the Employees Retirement System, which make them eligible for retirement, disability, and death benefits. (For additional information, please refer to the Employees Retirement System (www.ers.texas.gov).

Group Insurance

Most new employees are eligible for health insurance coverage after a short waiting period. Additional coverage is available for employees and dependents for a reasonable additional charge. (For additional information, please refer to the Employees Retirement System (www.ers.texas.gov).

Holidays

Typically, employees receive between 12 and 15 days of holiday leave (http://www.hr.sao.texas.gov/Holidays) each year as set by the state legislature.

Leave Benefits

Employees accrue annual leave and sick leave on the first working day of each month. New state employees will become eligible to utilize annual leave after completing six continuous months of employment. Sick leave can be utilized immediately when the employee or immediate family member is ill or for medical appointments. For more details including other leave benefits, select the following link. Longevity Pay

Eligible employees receive additional pay each month based on their years of state service.

Deferred Compensation

Employees may contribute pre-tax dollars to either or both the Tex$aver 401(k) or 457 deferred compensation programs. (For additional information, please refer to the Employees Retirement System (www.ers.texas.gov).

Training Opportunities and Education Assistance

TDHCA supports continued learning and professional development by offering employees the opportunity to attend training courses, seminars, and conferences conducted in-house and by outside entities. The education assistance program assists eligible employees in attaining college degrees.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP offers short-term counseling and referral services, LawAccess, Work/Life Services, and online HelpNet resources. Services are free, confidential, and available to all TDHCA employees and their immediate family members.
